This week we are accepting new members into Brainstorm Road, our community for everyday people with Dream Projects.
We’re opening up the Dream Project Hotline for the next two weeks to answer your questions about Brainstorm Road and making Dream Projects happen in real life. Have a question? We want to hear it. Send a note with the subject line “Dream Project Hotline” to hello@brainstormroad.com.
Our second submission is a question we hear a lot: Is this the right time for me to become a member?
Let’s get into it.
If things are a little wobbly, it may be just the right time.
If you are in crisis, don’t sign up right now. Be honest about whether you’re in one. If you are, this is probably not the moment to take on a new project.
Only you can make the call on what’s Real Life and what’s a crisis.
We designed Brainstorm Road with Real Life in mind because we figured out that real life doesn’t stop and there isn’t some sort of magical clearing in the weeks, months, or years ahead. There’s only what we choose to do today – right smack dab in the midst of life being full tilt.
That’s why we love (or, let’s be honest, love/hate) ten minutes a day. To do the work we care about, we’ve got to figure out how to make it happen within the topsy-turviness of everyday life. Ten minutes almost always fits.
We have to stop looking for a bunch of hours that are never going to appear. But that’s also the gift: our Dream Project isn’t a one-time sprint. It’s more like a relationship. It’s a perpetual homecoming to the work we care about doing.
One other note – you aren’t going to do your project perfectly.
Part of the hesitation in beginning now is that maybe if life were different I could do a better job at some future unspecific point down the road.
Here’s a secret: one reason that the Brainstorm Road experience lasts for six months is because that’s enough time for Real Life to flare up. It’s enough time for you to fall off the wagon *and* get back on again. This is the critical muscle we learn to build – face-planting and choosing to get back up.
At Brainstorm Road we’re not interested in perfect. We’re curious about what happens when things go sideways – what sorts of glorious, clumsy, one-of-a-kind things we can make as we go tumbling through everyday life together.
If that sounds like fun to you, we want to see you at Brainstorm Road.
