Which is precisely what we challenged invited people to do this week.
Share your work. Show it to others. But with a caveat. We’re not inviting people to show their finished work, their polished pieces, or their edited final versions. We invited people to show their work in progress.
The messy, probably-will-be-deleted, might not work, let’s-just-try-it version of their Dream Project.
This week is what we call The Brainstorm Road Show. Members of Brainstorm Road are bravely showcasing their SFDs (iykyk) and giving us a peek into their process.
The creative process, the process of trying something new (that might not work) - demands repeated action, effort, playing around, initiative, pivoting, and trying again. That is what we sought out to reward with this (ahem) Road Show.
Worth Your Time
I’m taking over this section to fangirl on our Roadies this week. Here are some projects to follow, cheer on, encourage, and please please - comment!
Hanif Janmohamed is making The Reluctant Illustrator. His minimalist aesthetic combines deep feeling and light heartedness. It’s delightful.
Dave Bourne is taking people outside.
Heat Dziczek is making a card deck so people don’t say dumb sh*t to people with cancer.
Win Treese is writing a history of random numbers (and will get you excited about it).
Marta created Stella the Stem Cell for her science themed children’s book.
Justin Lee is pairing essays with Japanese calligraphy. The work is exquisite.
Check out the entire Road Show over at Brainstorm Road 🚙 🚀.
One Small Thing
Go into the Ruby Mine and pull something out.
Then, show it to someone.
Whether you're in Brainstorm Road or not, we hope you find time to celebrate your works in progress. And be proud of yourself for showing up.
Happy Friday,
Margo + Kristin
Everyone's work is so cool!
