Yes! The Writing Life is a wonderful read. I loved Pilgrim at Tinker Creek too.

In the Brainstorm Road community we take a small action every week that helps move our Dream Project forward. Then at the end of the week, we share what we did. We call it shipping our work, so that's what we mean when we say "ship." If you have more questions, we'd love to chat! You'll find a real human at hello@brainstormroad.com

I really like that Annie Dillard quote. I really enjoyed her book Pilgrim at Tinker Creek. Not sure where the quote is from but I’ll look. Sounds like a wonderful and supportive community. Curious about what the shipping part is like/means.

Your hunch is correct :) It is. Shipping is a shorthand term we use to refer to "completing your work." Whether you've shipped an essay, an email, a song, a paper, a video, or a Substack post about not doing your work (lol) - it all counts.

Inside of the Brainstorm Road platform, we commit to a weekly shipping rhythm. All that means is each week you choose one small task to do. Then, you login on Fridays and post what you did that week inside the platform. We call it "Ship & Share."

The goal is to celebrate small actions done consistently over time (6 months) with others. Once you post, you'll comment on other people's shares. And they'll comment on yours.

It's encouraging to get acknowledgement for even minor tasks. Especially when we often feel like nothing counts until we've boiled the entire ocean. I invite you to check it out! http://www.brainstormroad.com/join

Have you read the part about the stunt pilot? I’ve just read some excerpts. May have to check out this book.
