How do you guys know what I need to read?? This is me right now, 1 Spare hour but the kids need feeding, the house cleaning, just so much to do. Needed my weekly reminder that it is a season

Monday my daughter bathed and dressed herself for bed, AND made her own dinner (it was Cheerios and yogurt but don't look a gift horse in the mouth!). That's never happened ONCE in 6 years. IT. IS. A. SEASON.

The scarcity this world sells us is a mirage. Our work will be there when the house is clean in a few weeks (errr years?). There is always more time.

BIG LOVE

"The conditions required to get back to work are not hustling, but connecting.

Not trying harder but surrendering to what is now

and what it is that we want and leaning into pleasure.

Reconnecting with that place inside that gets excited about the idea and the work.

Staring out a window for 30 minutes.

Enjoying a movie or a book.

Taking care of ourselves so that when our lives do present us with an opportunity, we are prepared to meet it. "

This is poetry.

It’s a “Dear Diary” moment.

I fight this Resistance, and the precedence of real life over creative work, daily.

It can be hard to not turn once frustration inward.

But not turning the frustration inward...

giving oneself permission to just rest, recharge, and try later...

Truly are the keys to finding that creative white space, again.

It feels completely counter-intuitive.

Guilt sometimes gets in the way.

Other times, the weight of expectations.

From others...

From us...

And let's not even talk about comparison.

Their high lights to our lows.

This is hard, weighty, internal work.

And sometimes we need help to wade through it.

Thank you.

1: “There are laws to creative work akin to the laws of physics.

You need white space.

Shower moments.

A brain.

Time to think.

Stillness.

Nature.

Support.

Community.

There are conditions into which creative work is built.

The conditions are never ideal, but there are conditions.

We might as well acknowledge them.“

This is such an important message.

This should be copy on someone's website, somewhere. For Brainstorm Road.

But it's even bigger than BR.

It's a deep, dark secret that almost no one talks about out loud.
